Symons, David (1944-1949) and Martin (1945-1949)
Symons I and Symons II are still extant, in England and SA respectively. Both went to MHS 50-53. David went to the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell (Commonwealth Nominee)and served in the RAF until 1987: after running the village PO he is now happily retired in Lowick, Northamptonshire. He married Maud and they have two children and five grandchildren. Martin, who qualified as an Optometrist at UCT, turned his hand to table-grape growing in the Hex River Valley for some years and now has an Optometry practice in Rondebosch. He is active on the WPCC committee at Newlands: he married Corinne and they have four children and two grandchildren. Any Cordie is welcome to visit us in England or Cape Town.

Wilton-Davies, Colin (1944)
I was at Cordwalles for most of 1944, when Jack Besant was headmaster, his daughter taught me French when the other boys were learning Afrikaans, and Mr Pennington was sports master. What happened to them?
I arrived just before Easter, in time to catch whooping cough, which resulted in a short stay with other victims and the matron in Scottsburgh.
Boys I particularly remember are Peter French and John Stranach.
I am retired now and living in Jersey in the Channel Islands, where my main interest is family history - Jack Besant's father was Vicar of Lydney, and married my uncle and aunt in 1918.
