1981 to 1990

Wadley, Tony (1976-1984)
Miss Wynne taught me class one and two. In those days there were only 3 of us in class one, and class one and two were combined. I think it was only the second year class one was offered.
I left Cordwalles to go to MHS, and then Durban Tech, were I studied to be a charted secretary. I now live in Swansea in Wales where I run my own sweet factory. I have been in the UK since 1991.

Strachan, Robert (1982-1987)
I was at Cordwalles between 1982-87, in Tatham House.  I had the privilege of having Ronald Brooks as headmaster long enough for him to give me a few canings and then Dave Bawden for the rest of my time.  I thoroughly enjoyed Cordwalles and will never forget the influential teachers like ‘Monk’, who shaped our characters and taught us such great values and standards by which to live our lives.  I went onto Michaelhouse with so many great friends who I still keep in touch with, the likes of Murray Hibbs (who was recently my best man at my wedding), Lyall Rushton, Guy Balsdon, James Wardlaw, Dean Davidson and Simon Nicholson to name a few.  After school I managed to complete a degree at Maritzburg University, at which point I was a ‘border master’ at Cordwalles for a short time and then came over to the UK in 1995 to join the British Army.  I was commissioned in 1996 into 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, a Cavalry Regiment that specialises in Formation Reconnaissance.  As is not unusual I have stayed in longer than originally intended and am now a Major, still serving and having an interesting time.  I am married to Sally, no children but some adorable dogs and we live in Barton Stacey in Hampshire.  It is still my intension to return to SA in the future and I very much look forward to that day.
