A MOTIVATIONAL TALK BY A KEITH FEY (CORDIES OLD BOY)

Life and Adventures in the Last Wilderness
(
An illustrated presentation )
Keith Fey was born in Kenya, into a pioneer farming family in the fifties. Educated at Cordwalles and Weston Agricultural College, before going on to farm in the Magical Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands. Since 2005 Keith has safaried and worked with the Patamona Indians deep inside the rain forests of Guyana in South America. Invited to meet Sam Hinds the Prime Minister to discuss farming, Keith soon found himself absorbed in Mr Hind's visions of his country and its people. In Africa, his journeys have taken him from the Livingstone mountains to the Rift Valley lakes in Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya, where he returned to his place of birth for the first time in fifty years. He has had the pleasure of meeting ordinary hard working people. His associations have taken him into the company of the president of Liberia and to opposite extreme of the physically and mentally war wounded. Keith has just returned from his latest adventure to the " WAS FORESTS ", his own term for the destroyed rain forests of Ghana and is sharing his experiences and adventures. His talk is hilarious and at times terrifying, thought-provoking, challenging, but mostly just great fun!
Keith's story weaves in his recovery from depression, which enabled all his adventures to happen. " Returning grace into this great pool of life " is Keith's way of offering hope for the inner journey.

OLD BOYS’ DAY 6th February 2010

Old Boys’ from the 1930’s to the 1990’s came together on one of the hottest days of the year to reconnect with each other and to celebrate the school’s 98th Birthday.
Tea & Coffee were served in the Grass Quad before Chapel. Roy Gathorne (Class of 1934) and his wife Barbara joined us along with Denys Pennngton (Class of 1939) and his wife Vida. Chapel was followed by a stroll around the grounds and up to the Pavilion to watch the 1st Team Cricket’s victory over St. Charles and enjoy a cool drink. Lunch took place in the Dining Room and tables were made up from the 1940’s, 1950’s, 1960/70’s, 1980/90’s. The Headmaster, Simon Weaver was joined by others from his Class of 1975 and celebrated their 35th Anniversary of Leaving School. The Class of 1950 celebrated their 60th Anniversary and Brian Mollard, who left Cordwalles in 1943 left 67 years ago. John & Robin Hamilton jointly cut the birthday cake to a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday.
