Mission Statement
Cordwalles is an Anglican Independent Boys’ Preparatory School, which strives to provide a balanced, holistic education in a caring environment. Through the provision of quality teaching and learning resources and the exposure to varied activities, each boy is encouraged to develop personal excellence, respect and empathy for others and a belief in himself.
Our Vision
To be a boy’s best foundation for life.
We believe that a boy’s foundation is secured by building and developing SAVY
- Skills (Knowledge) : These two aspects need to be developed in all the boys so that they are able to cope confidently in a changing and competitive world.
- Attitude (Passion and Motivation) : Our boys need to be inspired, dedicated and focused on doing the best they can in the activities they are exposed to.
- Values : Boys at Cordwalles need to be instilled with the values of compassion, caring, respect for God, themselves, others and the environment, as well as have a commitment to making a difference in the world.
- Y – Why! : Critical thinking is so important to develop in our boys.
These aspects contribute to ensuring that boys leave Cordwalles with self-confidence and a self-belief that then provides them with the essential foundation which they need for life.

A learning environment in which all members of our diverse community are encouraged to understand, accept and respect each other to foster hope for the future.
- Developing a respect and appreciation of environment
It is vital that our boys engage positively in the environmental issues facing the world today. They need to be participants in making a constructive difference to the conservation of the earth.
- Promoting a caring involved and supportive school community
The school community is one in which there is a commitment to a shared vision, effective communication, respect and courtesy in order to form a basis for the partnership between parents, learners, educators, management and support staff.
- Delivering a holistic and balanced education
Holistic education is one that develops the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual and physical potential of the learner by developing life skills and fostering growth of the individual and the community through the academic, extramural and other elements of the school curriculum.
Developing personal excellence
The notion of personal excellence refers to the potential of each child being reached academically, extramurally and spiritually. It also refers to the dedication of our educators and parents to providing educational resources and support so that our learners develop a love for learning.
- Emphasising learner-centred education
Learner-centred education focuses on the individual’s needs and abilities, and allows diversity to be recognised within a spirit of discipline and acceptance, without compromising the integrity of the School.
