SPORT AT CORDWALLES
Cordwalles provides an activity for every individual at the school.
Grades 1 and 2 are offered cricket, soccer, hockey and swimming with tennis and ball skills available to interested parties. The boys are instructed by at least eight male Student Masters ( a ratio of 1:8).
Grades 3-7 are offered swimming, cricket, rugby, cross-country, athletics, tennis and hockey.
It is policy to provide a team for each boy and to ensure that all teams take part in weekly and equitable fixtures. Cordwalles at present has thirteen male sports coaches who are either members of the academic staff or resident boarder masters. Coaches attend regular clinics (both internally and externally), are enthusiastic and are well equipped to provide boys with an excellent grounding in all sports.
In addition to interschools fixtures, interhouse competitions are held in all activities and the school team represents us at Interprep activities. All our teams are competent, well drilled and always give an excellent account of themselves against any opposition.

After matches they may go home in their match kit. After galas, boys are to put on their full school tracksuits and their foot wear before departing.

Boys who attend matches as a supporter at another school must wear their full match kit including the track suit on arrival to the game.

Dayboys remaining in the afternoon:
These boys often wish to play at school with boarders or have extra practice in the nets, kicking for posts or playing tennis. They must be dressed in the appropriate kit.
Playing on the fields - Golf shirt and blue shorts
Tennis - Golf shirt, blue shorts, short white socks and takkies
Cricket etc. - Golf shirt, blue shorts, long white socks and takkies
No civvies are allowed in the afternoon during the week. After school, no mixing civvies with Cordwalles uniform or sports clothing. However the combo jacket can be worn with jeans etc.
Boys waiting for their parents immediately after school - who are being picked up 15 to 20 minutes later and want a social game of cricket or rounders on Levels while they wait, do not need to change but thereafter will be required to do so.
All these regulations are for the benefit of the boys and for the school. We need to help the boys develop a routine where they can be an advert for our school, yet be comfortable with the knowledge that they are showing support for their teams and unity in wearing his uniform.
As there is no blazer boys must have the Cordwalles tracksuit and jersey. Boys may not wear half a Cordwalles tracksuit. On exceptionally cold winter mornings (2nd and 3rd Terms), boys may wear their tracksuit over their jersey or khakis. Alternatively, boys can wear the Cordwalles rain/winter combo jacket. However, the fleece part of the combo jacket cannot be worn alone with the tracksuit pants, only the rain jacket. The combo jacket cannot be worn with ‘greys’.
We believe that by wearing this correct uniform, your son will
develop a pride in himself, his fellows and his school.
