Cordwalles Welcomes New Grade 1 Teacher for 2016

Lauren Corcoran

Lauren was born in Matatiele and grew up on a farm in the area. Lauren attended the local junior school and then became a boarder at Pietermaritzburg Girls High School during her high school years. Lauren comes from a family of four siblings and loves their noisy get togethers. After matriculating she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Natal, and then went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology. It was during the practical work experience requirements of this diploma that Lauren discovered how much she enjoyed working with young children. After a short stint of travelling Lauren took up a post as an intern at St Nicholas Diocesan School and completed her teaching qualifications in 2005. In the same year that she graduated Lauren also married her husband Sean. After graduating Lauren began teaching Grade R at St Nicholas, which she did for two years before moving to Grade One. In 2008 Lauren took up a post teaching Grade One at Scottsville Primary School, where she have loved the challenges and rewards of seeing little people through their first year of formal schooling.

When Lauren is not at school she can generally be found running long distance or just enjoying the outdoors.

Lauren is incredibly excited to be joining the Cordwalles team and is looking forward to welcoming the boys to her class next year.
